Return to Rome: The Eternal City

No other city can outshine Rome, the Eternal City. No matter if you have visited Rome before, you will discover that eh further you go, the deeper it is. Surrounded by antiquity, on a leisurely walk you can encounter a thousand years of history as well as the latest fashion trends before stopping for a gelato or a frothy cappuccino. On this week in Rome, we’ll explore with Vanderbilt Alumni’s Study Leader the Borghese Gallery, Ara Pacis, Colosseum, Forum Romanum among other visits and open special venues such as the Vatican gardens and the American Academy in Rome. Outside of the city in Tivoli we’ll visit Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este as well as the ancient port city of Ostia. Our home in Rome will be the VOI Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli, a beautifully restored 17th century convent in the Trastevere District designed by Francesco Borromini with updated modern amenities, a lovely garden and a glorious rooftop patio with a stunning view of Rome. Join Vanderbilt on this exclusive educational program showcasing the glories of ancient Rome.
